Above all, ENJOY IT! PROGRAM DESCRIPTION CD Professional is designed to play Audio CD's through your computer's CD Player and sound card. It provides the appearance of a rack mounted piece of audio equipment along with the functionality of the controls normally found on audio CD players. CD Professional also provides database functions for your CD collection. It allows you to store the Name, Artist and Track Contents for each CD. Once the data has been entered for any CD, CD Professional will automatically recognize it each time it is inserted into the CD Drive. The database feature allows you to browse through your collection either by Artist or by Title and, optionally, attaches 80 pixel by 80 pixel bitmaps to its display. CD Professional is distributed as SHAREWARE. You are authorized to use it for a reasonable period of time to determine its suitability, after which you must register it and pay the nominal fee of $10. Registration will assure continued support of the program and notification of future upgrades. PROGRAM INSTALLATION The program is distributed along with an "install" program. The install program will prompt you for an install directory into which it will place all required files to run CD Professional. It is recommended that you accept the default directory suggested during the install process. Install will also automatically create a "cd.ini" file in your Windows directory. This file will contain the program options you select as well as the database information you enter for your CD Catalog. Protect and backup the cd.ini file as you would any other database information in your computer. To run CD Professional's install program, use Windows' Program Manager; select FILE | Run from Program Manager's menu and enter the path where the downloaded CD Professional files are currently located along with the file name INSTALL.EXE. The install program will place all required files into a directory (the default is C:\CDPRO) and will create CD.INI in your Windows directory. The install program will then create a CD Professional Program Group and insert two icons, one for CD Professional and one for a Windows Write version of this program. Once the install program has created its own directory and program group and you has tested to assure the program runs correctly, you may delete all the CD Professional files in your download directory. ON LINE HELP There is extensive on line help available within the program. It is suggested that you select the QUICK START option in the HELP MENU to get started as quickly as possible. SAMPLE CATALOG AND BITMAPS CD Professional is distributed along with sample catalog entries and bitmaps. These will appear on the Browse by Artist and Browse by Title dialog boxes. This information is distributed to demonstrate the bitmap capability of CD Professional's database. These entries can be easily deleted through the Delete function of the browse dialogs. In order to use your own bitmaps with you CD catalog, they must be in .BMP format at a size of approximately 80pixels by 80pixels. Any larger and they will be cropped; any smaller and they will have a white border on one side. Scanned images with 256 colors work best. You will notice that for any image without a bitmap, CD Professional defaults to display the Southwest Software Associates logo. Use care not to delete this bitmap from your CD Professional directory or an error message will occur each time a browse operation is attempted. The default bitmap can be replaced simply by renaming an 80 by 80 pixel bitmap file of your choice to "SSA.BMP" and placing it in the CD Professional directory. UPGRADES Comments and recommendations for future upgrades are welcomed from registered users. Send your comments to the same address as the registration address above. ENJOY THE PROGRAM!
